Since this is generally a dry time of year, and fireworks are capable of  starting wildfires, why do we permit them to be used in these conditions?

There are many causes of wildfires - matches, cigarette butts, hot catalytic converters on pick-up trucks in high grass or embers from a campfire or pit.

The answer is not to ban or confiscate, but to educate, just like Smokey the Bear. Most fires are caused by misuse and abuse, by not using common sense. Our focus is to teach Texans how to use fireworks properly. When used as directed, fireworks can be enjoyed safely.
